BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Now that’s Srijit Mukherji for you. Where other grooms might want to spend hours styling their hair and shaping their beards before their grand reception day, Srijit kept himself busy with the muhurat of his next Durga Puja release — Kakababur Protyaborton. Well, those close to him, know that he swears by his work. The film will be shot in South Africa.
A day before Srijit and his Bangladeshi wife Rafiath Rashid Mithila’s big Kolkata reception, the most sought-after filmmaker of Kolkata had the muhurat of his new Kakababu film at SVF office on Friday morning. However, the presence of Prosenjit Chatterjee, who was shooting for Kaveri Antardhan, was missed.
Dressed in the ‘Khoka’ t-shirt (check out the funny conversation between Srijit and producer Mahendra Soni on Facebook a few days before), Srijit, of course, was clearly in a chipper mood.
The muhurat saw Aryann Bhowmik, who will again step into the shoes of Kakababu’s nephew Santu. Anirban Chakraborty aka Eken Babu will also be joining the cast of Kakababur Protyaborton. Soumik Haldar is an indispensable part of the Kakababu series and so is Indraadip Dasgupta.
In the past, Srijit had made two Kakababu films — Mishawr Rawhoshyo and Yeti Obhijaan. This will be Srijit’s third film in the Kakababu franchise. The Bengali director, who just delivered a mammoth hit with Dwitiyo Purush in 2020, took to social media to share pictures from the muhurat. “This Puja, He will set out for an adventure to the jungles of Africa! #KakababurProtyaborton #Puja2020 @prosenjitbumba @AryannBhowmik @iindraadip @srijato_speaks @rupamislam74 @iammony @SVFsocial,” he tweeted.
A part of the production team is already in South Africa and Srijit might fly down on March 1. Prosenjit, who plays the title role in the film, along with Aryann and Anirban are said to visit Africa around March 4.
Mithila and Srijit tied the knot in Kolkata on December 6, 2019. Later, a private ceremony was held at Srijit’s South Kolkata home.
