BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee, who is battling with COVID-19 at Belle Vue Hospital Kolkata, has been given convalescent plasma therapy twice. Though his condition was stable on Sunday, his condition got a bit critical on Sunday afternoon and he was running temperature.
Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee called up the hospital authorities to enquire about the Charulata actor’s health. Among the 12-member doctor’s team, she deputed two government doctors.
The actor, who tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, and was admitted to the hospital on October 6, was doing well. However, on Friday afternoon, his condition deteriorated. He was put on oxygen support, his blood pressure started fluctuating and his oxygen level dropped. He was also disoriented and restless, and CT scan has been done.
On Saturday, Soumitra’s daughter Poulomi Bose said her father is suffering from COVID encephalopathy.
Soumitra shot for Parambrata Chatterjee’s Bengali film Abhijaan, a biopic on his life post COVID-19 lockdown in Kolkata. He was also shooting for a documentary on his life and works days before he was admitted to the hospital for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, another veteran actor Dhritiman Chatterji expressed concern on the health of Soumitra.
