AGENCIES, New Delhi: A 24-year-old woman, who had recently travelled to USA, died at a private hospital in Himachal Pradesh on Monday taking the death toll from the outbreak of coronavirus to 9. She was admitted at the hospital with symptoms of coronavirus. However, she died before the arrival of COVID-19 test report.
The woman had reportedly come from the USA to her permanent residence in Kangra a few days ago, Himachal Deputy Director-cum-State Surveillance Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP), Dr Sonam G Negi, told NDTV, “It is not yet sure whether she was suffering from COVID-19 or not, but she returned from the country where the virus has already spread.”
The woman was the second death case reported on Monday. Earlier the day, Bengal reported its first and country’s eighth coronavirus death. A 55-year-old Dum Dum resident, who tested coronavirus positive last week and was admitted to Salt Lake AMRI Hospital passed away. The total number of novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 471 on Monday. The country witnessed the biggest single-day jump, when 81 new cases were reported on Sunday — the day when India observed Janta Curfew. Maharashtra is worst hit with 97 confirmed cases.
