AGENCIES, Kohlapur: Amid the coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra, a man was thrashed in Kolhapur for allegedly sneezing and spitting in public on Tuesday.
According to a TheQuint report, a man on a two-wheeler sneezed several times, while he was stuck in traffic. A couple who was passing by, advised him to wear a mask. Soon, the two parties started arguing, which resulted in physical assault.
Prasad Dille of Gujri area in Kolhapur, Maharashtra was on the two-wheeler with his family, when another man dressed in an orange shirt rode pass them and sneezed without covering his face. When he asked the man to follow government advisory, a confrontation broke out.
Prasad told TheQuint that the man refused to cover his mouth and started arguing with him. In the middle of a verbal argument, Dille alleges that the man spat on him. He also said that the man abused his wife.
The entire incident was recorded on CCTV camera nearby. After the incident went viral on social media, Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh in a tweet said that the police should take strict action against those fleeing isolation.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created panic across the country. The total number of positive cases in India stands at 169 with Maharashtra being the worst coronavirus-hit state with 47 confirmed cases so far and one death.
