AGENCIES, Mumbai: The death toll due to coronavirus increased to 21 in the country on Friday and the number of coronavirus cases in India touched 871 , according to the Health Ministry and state governments. As many as 871 people have been tested positive for the coronavirus. Meanwhile, 67 people have been cured and discharged so far.
Kerala recorded 1176 coronavirus cases. On Thursday night, India’ coronavirus cases were 694 as 88 new cases were reported. The country recorded highest number of positive cases in a single day. Two more deaths linked to the COVID-19 virus were reported on Thursday, with Maharashtra confirming its fourth death in the outbreak, Gujrat it’s third and Kashmir its first. In Maharashtra, the numbers rose to 156, Karanataka stands at 64, Rajasthan at 50, Punjab at 38, and Tamil Nadu at 38.
44 people have tested positive in Gujarat in the last 24 hours. Telangana has 59 COVID-19 cases. Delhi has so far witnessed 40 COVID-19 cases. Jammu and Kashmir has 18 such cases and Ladakh has also reported 13 cases.
The country entered a total lockdown on Wednesday as ordered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to halt the spread of the virus. “Forget about stepping out of your homes for the next 21 days,” the Prime Minister said in a televised address to the nation on Tuesday.
More than 552,639 people have been infected by the virus all across the world. More than 86,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the USA, edging out Italy, which has reported the most death in the world.
