AGENCIES, Los Angeles: While Twilight actor Robert Pattinson is all set to don the Batsuit previously worn by Christian Bale, the latter is finding space in the arena opposite to superheroes. He has been roped in to play the villain in Thor: Love And Thunder, the fourth film in the Norse mythology franchise, directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi.
Actor Tessa Thompson, who will play the role of Valkyrie confirmed the news. “Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic. I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie (Portman) and I. We’re going to have fun. Taika is writing and directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix,” she said.
This also confirms that Natalie Portman, who plays the character of Jane Foster – female Thor and love interest to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – will be back in the series even though she wasn’t part of Thor: Ragnarok.
Though it is not yet known which villain Bale will portray, one can surely expect a stellar performance by the actor if one goes by the negative roles he has previously done in films like American Psycho, Vice, The Prestige, Hostiles and Harsh Times.
Incidentally, this also marks Bale’s crossover into the Marvel Universe from DC Comics. Thor: Love And Thunder is expected to hit theatres on November 5 next year.
