AGENCIES, Mumbai: Thor star Chris Hemsworth, who was supposed to arrive in India on March 16 on a two-day visit for the promotion of his upcoming Netflix film Extraction, along with the director Sam Hargrave, has called off his tour due to the coronavirus outbreak.
A Netflix source told news agency PTI, “Keeping in mind the health and safety of everyone involved and the travel advisory issued, the event has been called off.”
Love Aaj Kal actor Randeep Hooda will be seen making his debut in Hollywood with the action film Extraction. Recently, the first look of the actor in the film came out. Interestingly, the film was earlier named Dhaka and later, it was changed to Extraction. The film will start streaming on April 24.
On Monday, the number of positive cases in coronavirus in India went up to 43. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Singh have skipped Holi gathering. The Union Health Ministry had advised to avoid any kind of mass gathering to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The deadly virus has already killed more than 3,800 people worldwide.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus outbreak had led to the cancellation and rescheduling of various film events across the world. Even James Bond film No Time to Die, which was supposed to release in April, will now hit the theatres in November. Katry Perry, who is expecting her first child with Orland Bloom, was supposed to get married in Japan. However, the couple is planning to reschedule the marriage given the coronavirus scare.
The 10th Beijing International Film Festival has also been postponed until further notice, the organising committee said. It has been postponed keeping in mind the safety of the guests. Even the American Film Institute has postponed its 48th annual AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute honouring British actress-singer Julie Andrews, reported Daily Mail. The event was scheduled to be held on April 25 in Los Angeles. The event has been postponed till early summer.
Back in India, the makers of Rohit Shetty’s cop film Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar are contemplating to postpone the release of the film. The movie is scheduled to hit the theatres on March 24. However, the trade pundits believe the business of Baaghi 3 has been affected because of coronavirus and therefore, the makers might take a call on Sooryavanshi too. Meanwhile, Dinesh Vijan has informed that Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan-starrer Angrezi Medium would release on the fixed date i.e. March 13.
