BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the Centre has finally sanctioned a grant of Rs 5,751 crore to eight states, including West Bengal, which were hit by cyclone, landslide, flood and drought last year. West Bengal will get Rs 1,090.68 crore for the loss incurred due to Cyclone Bulbul last year.
West Bengal Chief minister Mamata Banerjee has repeatedly demanded that the Centre should at least clear this grant so that there are enough funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic. “If they send the money which we had demanded for Bulbul then we could spend the money for the fight against coronavirus in Bengal,” Mamata had said on Monday.
This aid was sanctioned to the eight states from the National Disaster Response Fund. Bengal will get Rs 1,090.68 crore for the loss incurred due to cyclone Bulbul last year.
