AGENCIES, Lucknow: Bollywood’s singer Kanika Kapoor, who is popularly known for belting out songs like Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Friday. At present, she is admitted at the King George’s Medical University hospital in Lucknow. Kanika has become the first Bollywood celebrity to have tested positive with COVID-19.
According to a report in India Today, the singer was in London and had returned to Lucknow on March 15. However, she was quite irresponsible in her behavior and hid her travel history. Kanika, who has sung Lovely and Kamlee for the film Happy New Year even, hosted a lavish party for her friends and family at a five-star hotel in Lucknow, which was apparently attended by politicians and top bureaucrats.
In an official statement, Kanika said, “For the past four days I have had signs of flu. I got myself tested and it came positive for COVID-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well.”
