BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The West Bengal regime has decided that like their state government counterparts, doctors and health workers of private hospital would be covered by the health department’s insurance scheme.
According to the insurance scheme, all doctors, medical staff, cleaning staff, cooks, para-medical staff and technicians of both state-run and private hospitals will get Rs 1 lakh if they are infected with coronavirus and Rs 10 lakh in case of death due to COVID-19 infection. None of them are required to pay any premium for the insurance.
The state health department has also decided to cover cleaning staff of all municipalities, police, central force personnel, defense personnel, airport staff, port staff, railway employees, drivers and conductors of buses, ICDS staff, medical attendants and employees of medicine stores under the life insurance scheme. They will get Rs 1 lakh if they are infected with coronavirus and Rs 5 lakh in case of death.
