BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: As part of the new line-up for India, at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Media Night prior to the opening of 2020 Auto Expo, Volkswagen (VW) took the wraps off the India-bound Taigun compact CUV. VW is actively looking to make its presence felt in the growing sub 4m CUV segment with such models.
Mechanically to be based on the brand’s MQB A0 IN platform it will be identical to the China-spec T-Cross. In fact, VW has been testing waters for a couple of years and one may recollect the German brand had showcased the Taigun concept at the Auto Expo 2014. The expected market launch is expected in 2021 and will be priced in the comfortable Rs 10– 6 lakh price range.
As per initial indications, two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol unit and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine will be offered with 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission.
