BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: A 44-year-old woman, resident of Kalimpong in West Bengal, who was admitted to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital on Friday and tested coronavirus positive died in the wee hours of Monday. With this, the number of people from West Bengal who died after being infected by coronavirus climbed to two. The number of positive cases in Bengal has touched 21.
The state has created a separate fund of ₹200 crore to battle the coronavirus situation and the chief minister Mamata Banerjee has also sought contributions from individuals and corporates through the West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund. Bengali actor Ankush has donated Rs 1 lakh to the CM relief fund and an additional Rs 1 lakh to the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India.

Meanwhile, East Bengal club has donated Rs 30 lakh and Mohun Bagan Rs 20 lakh to the state fund to fight COVID-19 situation. MLA Laxmi Ratan Shukla has donated three months’ salary to the CM relief fund.
In Bollywood actors like Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Shilpa Shetty, Randeep Hooda and Anushka Sharma are contributing to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) in the fight against COVID-19, which has taken 27 lives and infected more than 1,071 Indians so far amid nationwide lockdown.
