AGENCIES, New York: Mark Blum, an American actor who won over audiences for his work in films Desperately Seeking Susan, Crocodile Dundee and the Netflix series You, passed away at the age of 69 due to complications arising from contracting the deadly coronavirus.
Fox News reported that his, Janet Zarish, his surviving wife, confirmed his death in an email, which said, “My husband passed away yesterday, March 25th, from complications from the Coronavirus. He died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.”
Mark was known for his exceptional work in theatre. He worked largely with Playwrights Horizon, a New York based theatre. They remembered him by posting a moving message on Twitter. It read, “With love and heavy hearts, Playwrights Horizons pays tribute to Mark Blum, a dear longtime friend and a consummate artist who passed this week. Thank you, Mark, for all you brought to our theater, and to theaters and audiences across the world. We will miss you.”

Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also confirmed his passing away. Rebecca Damon, executive vice president and New York president of the SAG-AFTRA, said, “I always appreciated Mark’s clear perception of complex situations. He always spoke the truth and did a great service in informing members of our community about the ins and outs of the union whenever he had the opportunity.”
