BH CORRESPONDENT, Mumbai: Akshay Kumar, whose cop drama Sooryavanshi has been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak, took to social media to share an important message in the time of crisis. At a time when more than 200 people have been tested positive of COVID-19, and the government has been asking people to stay in home quarantine, especially those who are flying from abroad, some are attending parties, going to malls, meeting friends, thus spreading the deadly virus in the society. In fact, on Friday, Baby Doll singer Kanika Kapoor became Bollywood’s first coronavirus positive case. However, she had shown callous behavior because she hid her travel history to London. And after returning to her home town Lucknow, she threw a grand party.
Now, Akshay who is at his locked at his home, is miffed with all these and therefore he shared an important message especially for those people who are taking coronavirus lightly and not adhering to the precautions.
Sharing a video, the Good Newwz actor echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words of ‘social distancing’. “For the first time in life, the winner will be the one who will stay put! This is a race, one which will save us…Say yes to #SocialDistancing please #BreakCorona #TogetherAtHome @mybmc.”
At the start of the video, Akshay tells us that we should only move out of the house if at all necessary. He then reveals the real reasons why is furious. People who are travelling from abroad and landing at Mumbai airport and are at low-risk of coronavirus have been asked to home quarantine themselves for at least two weeks. “However, instead of listening to the government directions, and despite having the ‘Home Quarantine’ stamps by the Maharashtra government, some of the travellers are attending weddings, going to crowded places and even travelling for holidays. They are even attending parties. What kind of a mindset is this? What are you not trying to understand? Brother, sister… the coronavirus is not on a holiday… it is working… it is working overtime.”
The actor, who had worked in Waqt: The Race Against Time in 2005, then went onto mention how the COVID-19 will defeat us in the race of life if we don’t fight it together.
“In this race, it is ahead of us. But the race is yet to be completed. Coronavirus hasn’t yet won the race. We can win the race. We will have to win the race. If you want to win the race, then listen to the doctors, nurses, municipal authorities and police … In this race, we can all win together or we can all lose together,” said the Khiladi Kumar. He then praised the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s constant endeavour to contain the spread of COVID-19 and ‘Home Quarantine’ stamp system, which is also being called the badge of honour.

Akshay, who has signed on Ranjit Tiwari’s period drama Bell Bottom opposite Vaani Kapoor, was also one of the very first few Bollywood celebrities who lauded the PM’s effort to observe Janta Curfew on March 22 to fight coronavirus pandemic. Modi has urged the countrymen to impose a self-curfew on Sunday as part of a trial run to test social isolation to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has taken four lives of Indians so far. The number of positive cases has risen to 223 in India on Friday.
