Mumbai: Ajay Devgn’s period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is unstoppable even in its fourth week. The film, which released on January 10, shows no sign of fatigue and continues to pocket moolah at the box office. In fact, the Om Raut directorial which stars Saif Ali as the nefarious Udaybhan Singh Rathore and Kajol (though in a brief appearance as Tanaji’s wife Savitribai) is increasingly sprinting towards the 250 crore mark. And despite the presence of new releases such as Kangana Ranaut’s sports film Panga, Varun Dhawan’s Street Dancer 3D or Saif’s frothy comedy Jawaani Jaaneman, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior cruises along rather smoothly.
Within 26 days of its release, Ajay’s film has accumulated Rs 324 crore worldwide. The film has netted Rs 295 crore gross only in India and $4.1 million overseas to seize the fourth position.
So, Tanaji has crushed Salman Khan’s Bharat (Rs 308.70 crore), Akshay Kumar’s Good Newwz (Rs 304.12 crore – 35 days), Housefull 4 (Rs 295.80 crore), Mission Mangal (Rs 279.68 crore), Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy (Rs 230.53 crore) at the box office. However, Hrithik Roshan-starrer War tops the list with Rs 442.41 crore, followed by Shahid Kapoor’s box office breaker Kabir Singh (Rs 372.49 crore) and Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike with Rs 338.39 crore.
