BH CORRESPONDENT, New Delhi: According to the Union health ministry’s website the coronavirus cases climbed to 18,985 in the country and 603 people have lost their lives to the disease. In the last 24 hours, 1,329 fresh cases have been recorded in the country. The county has also reported 44 deaths in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 3,259 people have been cured or discharged so far.
Maharashtra recorded 4,669 cases. However, 572 people have also cured from the disease in the state. Meanwhile, the number COVID-19 deaths rose to 232 today in the state.
Delhi has 2,081 coronavirus infections, and 47 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 1,520 cases. The southern state has reported 17 COVID-19 deaths.
Telangana has 919 cases, Uttar Pradesh continues to register a higher number of positive cases and now the number stands at 1,294 with 20 deaths and 140 cured.
The central health ministry data says, West Bengal has reported 392 cases with 12 deaths.
Meanwhile, West Bengal state chief secretary Rajiv Sinha informed that Bengal has recorded 29 new positive cases. the total number stands at 274 and till Tuesday evening 73 people have recovered. He also said that three more people died in the state due to COVID-19, taking the total death toll to 15. So, the discrepancy in numbers still remains.
On the other hand, a central team in Bengal to investigate coronavirus lockdown violations waited for hours before being allowed by the Mamata Banerjee government to tour Kolkata. It took a home ministry warning before the state government budged after keeping the teams in Kolkata and Jalpaiguri on hold.
Inter-Ministerial Central Teams have been sent to four states, three ruled by the opposition. The home ministry said except Bengal, every state had cooperated with its teams.
