BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The Bengal government on Thursday said that 10 persons died from coronavirus infection till now and as on Thursday, a total of 144 persons have been infected with this virus.
On Wednesday, the state government had declared that 7 persons died in the COVID 19 infection. On Thursday, Rajiva Sinha, state chief secretary in the presence of chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that in the last 24 hours, three more patients died from COVID-19 infection.
Meanwhile, the gynecology ward and the labor room of the NRS Medical College and Hospital have been closed for patients after a woman tested positive. She had given birth to a child on Monday.
Early this month, the male medicine ward of this hospital and the ICU were closed for patients who were admitted to the ward tested positive for the virus.
Last week, the Eden Block and the female medicine ward of the Calcutta Medical College, too, had to be closed after two patients came down with the virus.
The treating doctors, nurses and the health care staff of the gynecology ward of NRS Hospital have been sent for quarantine. The Howrah hospital is also closed for patients after the superintendent of the hospital and a Sankrail woman tested COVID-19 positive last week.
