BH CORRESPONDENT, Kolkata: The second generation Hyundai Creta is scheduled for a launch on March 17, can now be booked at select Hyundai dealerships according to sources.
The booking price has been set at Rs 21K (refundable) and the compact SUV is expected to command a price between Rs 10-17 lakh.
The 2020 Creta for India borrows heavily from Hyundai ix25 which is sold in China and hence shares a lot of its exterior and interior design cues. From the exterior, the incoming Creta looks similar to the ix25, with design highlights like the large grille, split-headlamp setup and LED DRLs are similar to that on the Venue.
The cabin gets a lot of features including a Tesla-like large central floating touchscreen, jet fighter-inspired gear shifter and latest in connectivity features.
The India-market model is mechanically-based on the Kia Seltos platform and is larger and more spacious than the model it replaces. The model will be offered a choice of three BS VI engines (petrol and diesel). The base model will get 115 PS/250 Nm torque 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a six-speed manual transmission or Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) system. The diesel version will also come with a 6-speed manual transmission and automatic transmission system. Feature pack will be extensive to take on the likes of sibling brand’s Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
